Devotions & Prayer
Below is a 4-step form for devotionally reading Scripture, whether individually or as a family.
Pray: Call upon God to open our hearts and minds to hear His Word.
Here's a prayer you may find helpful:
"Speak, Lord, for your servants are listening. Please show us your ways that we may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having a righteousness of our own that comes from the Law, but that which comes through faith in Christ. Your Word is a lamp to our feet and light to our path. Give us life, Lord, according to your Word, and we will declare your greatness. Amen."
Listen: Read aloud or silently, listening carefully. If discussing an entire chapter, just read a portion that stood out to you.
Engage: Reflect/discuss what you read. You can use the discussion questions (p. 473-487) as a guide. Also, for each week's chapter there will be a special family devotional page. Copies will be at church, or print one from home from that chapter's resource page here.
Affirm: Pray that God would put His Word into action in our daily life and bless each other in faith, ending with the Lord's Prayer.
